Freeze Panes is an Excel feature that allows viewing datasets that are very wide (lot of columns) and/or very tall (lot of rows).

In this video, I demonstrate how and when to use Freeze Panes.

When we have large datasets, scanning through them quickly from left to right or top to bottom becomes very challenging. This is where the 'Freeze panes' feature comes in handy. We can freeze a certain number of rows or columns or both, so that they stay on the screen even when we scroll. This allows us to understand what data we are looking at, by referring to the column header(s) and/or row header
