The Power BI Template has 32 metrics calculated and ready for use. 


  1. Headcount
    • Active Employee Count at the End of the date range. If no date filters are applied, this will be the latest active employee count.
  2. Average Headcount
    • Average Headcount during the date range selected. (Starting Headcount + Ending Headcount)/2
  3. Average Tenure
    • Average of Tenures of Active Employees
  4. Median Tenure
    • Median of Tenures of Active Employees as of end of selected period
  5. Median Tenure at Exit 
    • Median tenure of employees who exited during date range. Tenure measured as of exit date.
  6. Median Age
    • Median of Age, as of end of selected period, of Active Employees
  7. Voluntary Exits
    1. Distinct count of employees who exited during the date range with exit type Voluntary (ID 1)
  8. Involuntary Exits
    1. Distinct count of employees who exited during the date range with exit type ID 2 (involuntary).
  9. Voluntary Turnover Rate
    1. Voluntary Exits during date range / Average Headcount during date range. Average headcount =  [(Active employees at start + Active employees at end)/2]
  10. Involuntary Turnover Rate
    • Involuntary Exits during date range / Average Headcount during date range. Average headcount = [(Active employees at start + Active employees at end)/2]
  11. Maximum Annual Salary
    • Maximum of Actual Salaries of Active Employees as of End of selected period
  12. Minimum Annual Salary
    • Minimum of Actual Salaries of Active Employees as of end of selected period
  13. Median Annual Salary
    • Median of salaries of employees active at end of period selected
  14. Total Annual Salary
    • Sum of salaries of employees active at end of period selected
  15. Average Annual Salary
    • Average of Annual Salaries of active employees at any point of time
  16. Total Exits
    •  Distinct count of employees who exited during the date range.
  17. Retention Rate
    • Out of Employees who were active at start of date range, how many were active as of end of date range. Expressed as %.  Should have started prior to date range.
  18. Turnover Rate
    • Total Exits during date range / [(Active employees at start + Active employees at end)/2]; Employees at start will be employees as of start date of range.
  19. Starting Headcount
    • Active Employee Count at the Beginning of the date range selected.
  20. Total Starts
    • Distinct Count of employees who started during the date range.
  21. Regrettable Exits
    • Number of employees who exited voluntarily the company during date range with a regrettable exit
  22. Regrettable Exits %
    • % of regerettable exits out of all voluntary exits during date range
  23. Headcount Change MOM
    • Change in headcount compared to 1 month ago
  24. Headcount Change YOY
    • Change in headcount compared to 1 year ago
  25. New Joiners
    • Distinct count of employees with start date during the date range. Data from Onboarding table.
  26. Eligible Joiners
    • Distinct count of employees who joined during the date range and have completed 90 days of tenure. Eligible for 90 day churn rate calculation. This will get updated only once a month, as partial months are not considered while calculating 90 day churn rates.
  27. 90-Day Leavers
    • Distinct count of employees who joined during the date range and left the company within 90 days of tenure. This will get updated only once a month, as partial months are not considered while calculating 90 day churn rates.
  28. 90-Day Churn Rate
    • [90 day Leavers/ Eligible Joiners]. Excludes recent months that should not be calculated, as we need to give at least 90 days for calculating churn rate accurately.
  29. Being Onboarded
    • Distinct count of active employees who have not completed onboarding. Uses only ONBOARDING table (with current status)
  30. Onboarding Completions
    • Distinct count of employees whose onboarding status is Completed, and start date during date range.
  31. Onboarding Completed %
    • % of employees who have completed onboarding out of all employees who joined the company during the date range.  [Onboarding Completions/ New Joiners]
  32. Avg. Onboarding Time
    • Average number of workdays taken for onboarding to complete for employees who joined during date range. Only those with Completed status are included.
