We have grouped dates by months and years in the pivot tables.
The grouping issue typically occurs when pivot tables are refreshed with invalid date formats (text-formatted dates or cells with blank spaces).
When you have invalid dates, your exit dashboard appears ungrouped.
Steps to fix this:
- Ensure all exit dates are in valid date format. Please refer to our article 'How to check date is entered correctly? ' for detailed steps .
- Filter the exit date column to check for invalid dates. After validating dates, filter for blank rows in the exit date columnSelect all dates and press Delete key to remove any hidden blank values that may exist from copied data
- The template has a hidden sheets . On any visible sheet name, please right click and choose Unhide as shown below.
From the pop-up displayed select the Pivot sheet and click ok . - The template uses pivot tables and hence the calculations have to be refreshed every time data is added or edited in the Employees Data sheet. From the DATA ribbon, click on Refresh All
- In the pivot sheet, the retention dashboard appears on the left of the red banner, and the exit dashboard on the right.
- Right-click on the date, select 'Group', choose month grouping, and click OK
- If you receive an error when selecting 'Group' stating that invalid dates are present in the Exit Date column, you need to revalidate all dates in the Exit Date column.
- Your exit dates will now be grouped by month.
